Understanding Hubs & Switches
Hubs and switches are fundamental components in networking, serving as devices that connect multiple computers and other devices within a network. Hubs operate at the basic level, simply receiving data from one device and broadcasting it to all other connected devices. While this approach allows multiple devices to communicate, it can lead to network congestion and inefficiency, especially in larger networks. Switches, on the other hand, offer a more advanced solution. They operate at the data link layer, intelligently directing data only to the intended device rather than broadcasting it to all connected devices.
